As an article from CNET.com so pointed out, on Microsoft’s (MSFT) website, if you click on any of the five options for a Surface Book you now receive the message “email me when available.” That’s because preorder of the supplies have sold out.

One of Microsoft’s newest Windows 10 devices, the Surface Book, has been available for preorder since October 7 and is scheduled to reach consumers on October 26.

CNET quoted a Microsoft spokesperson, “”We’ve seen strong demand for Surface Book and have sold out of preorder supply for October 26 availability…We will have limited quantities of Surface Book available in store on October 26 and will be updating online availability with new product ship dates soon.”

The Surface Book is Microsoft’s latest attempt at increasing revenue and competing with the MacBook (even the names are similar).

However, as MarketWatch pointed out, supplies may not be gone simply because of demand, “This doesn’t necessarily mean there has been an overwhelming surge in demand for Microsoft’s first laptop. It could also mean the company did not provide sufficient supply, likely protecting itself after its embarrassing $900 million writedown in 2013 for the Surface RT. Of course, being sold out isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It tends to draw increased media attention, for one, a tactic drawn straight from Apple’s playbook in earlier iPhone years.
